Odysseus. Laertides. King of Ithaca.

We’ve heard the story, but never like this. Follow Odysseus on his journeys, from the brutal battlefields of Troy, all the way to the serene island of Ogygia. He’ll face cyclopes, harpies, and the worst monster of all: man.

Framed as a letter to the goddess Calypso upon his departure, this retelling of Homer’s epic reveals Odysseus’s hidden guilt and the true nature of his heroism.

In a tale where the line between glory and infamy blurs, Odysseus  must grapple with his own demons and the harsh reality of his choices, all while the Gods’ whims shape his fate.

The Road to Ithaca: an Odyssey breathes new life into the classic tale.

Experience this gripping reimagining of a timeless epic and witness the journey of one man, desperate to reach home.

The Road to Ithaca: an Odyssey

How It All Began

This book sort of started on accident. In the middle of writing my first book, The Whispering Depths, I found myself in a bit of a slump. The page sat empty in front of me, and I had absolutely no clue what to write next.

So, as all authors do, I made something up.

I wrote a short reflection in the voice of one of my favourite literary and mythological characters, King Odysseus of Ithaca. This short reflection quickly turned into a short story, retelling the origins of the Trojan War, which turned into a short novel, retelling the entirety of Odysseus’ life, up to his departure from Calypso’s island.

I don’t know what it was that enraptured me so, but I quickly fell in love with the project, and promised myself to see it through. I think, in particular, I had an especially fun time writing in Odysseus’ voice. The voice of a trickster, and a soldier, and a king.

I love this character, and this book, and I hope you will, too.
